Wasatch Mountain Club Lodge Winter Ski Campout

February

Writing from the Wasatch Mountain Club lodge, now with Internet access! Many very intense games of Chess, Risk, 31 and other video-game free, deep thinking activities. But most of the past day, as well as much of last night was spent skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing around the Brighton Ski Resort. Scouts worked to complete Merit Badge requirements for Snow Sports, Wilderness Survival and others.

Snow Cave

January

Winter Klondike at Methodist Church Camp near Coalville. Scouts spent Friday night in cabins, and Saturday night in snowcaves they had built the day before. Saturday saw several intense sled races and other competitions.

March

Last month, our troop stayed in the Wasatch Mountain Club lodge at Brighton and skied for three days. During the Monday night meetings, the older scouts worked on the Citizenship in the World merit badge, while the younger scouts visited the Holliday courthouse or learned about knots and lashings.

Coming up in March we have the Salesmanship merit badge in preparation for selling Buffalo BBQ tickets, and an outing to Arches National Park from March 16th to the 18th.

Last Monday, Phillip Thompson received his Eagle at our quarterly court of honor. Neal Simmons also received his Woodbadge. This Saturday we are going to Camp Tracy. We will meet at 11:00am at CUMC.

Outing to Crystal Hot Springs is this weekend! Make sure to bring warm clothes. Next week is the Merit Badge fair, in which many parents have offered their expertise with the non-required merit badges. The Roster and Calendar pages have also been updated.
